The New Zealand 7’s team clinched the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens title and reclaimed the top spot in the series standings with 2 tournaments remaining.  It was the first win in Hong Kong since 2011 for the All Blacks.

It was a well-rounded performance for the winners.  Tim Mikkelson, Sam Dickson, DJ Forbes and Ben Lam all touched down for tries while Gillies Kaka hit 3 conversions.

The win puts New Zealand at the top of the HSBC 7’s World Series Standings.  They are currently 7 points ahead of South Africa with tournaments in Scotland and England remaining to close out the campaign.

Japan defeated Italy 26-5 in the qualifier competition to earn promotion as a core team for the 2014/15 competition.
