After posting a perfect 14-0 record in 2013, the New Zealand All Blacks swept the year-end IRB awards as New Zealand was named the Team of the Year, No. 8 Kieran Read taking World Player of the Year honors, and Steve Hanson being named the Coach of the Year.
Read is the third All Black to take the award joining Dan Carter (2005 and 2012) and Richie McCaw (2006, 2009, 2010) as the recipient. The 28-year-old had a great year and now has won 61 caps and has scored the most international test tries for any No. 8.
The selection did not come as surprise.
Kieran Read player of the year! No sh*t Sherlock!! Of course he was! Glad the IRB got that right 🙂

“This is fantastic recognition of a very special team,” New Zealand Rugby Chairman Mike Eagle said of Read. “We are very proud of what Steve, Kieran and the team have achieved in 2013 as they have worked hard to be the best, and we congratulate them on these awards.”
Hansen replaced Graham Henry as All Blacks head coach in December 2011. The side has only lost 1 match under his leadership.
