The 2017 Super Rugby season kicks off on Thursday, February 23 and the Australian Super Rugby clubs announced a partnership with Vodafone at the official league launch over the weekend. The league has been looking for a new sponsor since Asteron Life opted not to renew their contract at the end of last season.
The 4-year deal will see the Vodafone logo placed on the jersey sleeves and shorts for all the Australian Super Rugby clubs through 2020. It also includes sponsorship on the back of the Australia women’s XV’s side, the Wallaroos.
Vodafone was previously a Super Rugby partner in Australia from 2001-2003. They have also been jersey sponsor for the Australia national team, the Wallabies, between 1998 and 2003.
“Vodafone is thrilled to be returning to Rugby, where we had fantastic success building our brand in the early 2000s,” Vodafone Australia Customer Business Director, Ben McIntosh, said at the launch. “It’s a sport we all love, and gives us a great opportunity to really connect with Australians right across the country.”
