The U.S. Eagles earned a berth at the 2015 Rugby World Cup with their 32-13 win over Uruguay in the second leg of their tie at Fifth Third Bank Stadium at Kennesaw St University outside of Atlanta, Georgia.  The 6,000+ crowd was behind the home side from the opening kick in rainy conditions but had to wait, much like in the first leg, for the U.S to find their footing.

“We put ourselves under a lot of pressure, but we didn’t panic, though,” captain Todd Clever said after the match. “We knew we were going to break them, we were confident with it, but it took longer than expected.”

The Eagles were down 13-3 at halftime but found their form in the second half.  The U.S. had a 26-0 run that put the game out of reach and England in sight.

In the end, the Eagles took the tie with a 59-40 win over the two legs in the home-and-away tie.  They advance to play in Pool B along with Samoa, Scotland, South Africa and the Asia 2 qualifier at the I
