Eagles Ready for Critical Rugby World Cup Qualifier

After showing well in the November Test matches, the pressure is fully on the U.S. men’s national rugby team over the coming weekends as the play the home-and-away tie with Uruguay with a place at the 2015 Rugby World Cup on the line.

The first leg match is in Montevideo on Saturday (March 22) at 3 p.m. EDT.  The match will be streamed live and free on rugbyworldcup.com.

Todd Clever will captain the side. The blindside flanker is earning his 55th cap for the Stars and Stripes.

The U.S. has controlled this match over the past 10+ years with only 1 loss in that time.  The most recent wins over Uruguay came at the same stage of qualification prior to the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

And Los Teros could be weaker this time around as their top player Rodrigo Capó Ortega has not been in the national team mix lately leaving only Agustín Ormaechea as a professional player.

The 2nd leg match is outside of Atlanta at Kennesaw State University on Saturday, March 29th.
