Italy rugby has announced a massive eight-year sponsorship deal with Italian kit supplier, Macron Sports, and also revealed their 2017/18 jerseys.

Italy will wear Macron gear until 2025, and they join Scotland, Scarlets, Northampton Saints, Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh in the company’s rugby stable.

In announcing the deal, the FIR (Federazione Italiana Rugby) noted that it was Macron’s understanding and passion for Italian sport that played a big part in their decision to move on from Adidas to the new company, and this is clearly in evidence by the brand new jerseys that the company has produced.

The home kit is a classic sky blue design with white shorts and blue socks, interestingly with gold accents on the sleeves, the back of the collar, and on the hem of the jersey.

Closer examination reveals some clever little touches and details.  The back of the neck features an Italian flag motif, with the word ‘Italia’ embossed onto the back of the collar, meanwhile the base of the back of the jersey features a subtle tonal FIR crest.

The alternate jersey is identical to the home shirt, but it swaps blue for white, with the same gold accents, and this time with blue shorts.

Italy will wear the new Macron jerseys for the first time in this year’s Autumn internationals, which kick off in November.
