Ahead of the first Guinness Pro14 season, Canterbury have revealed their 17/18 home rugby jersey that the three-time European champions will wear for the forthcoming campaign.
The new jersey is a return to the classic Leinster blue, but with a modern twist – the back and front of the jersey features a checkerboard motif, with each darker square featuring a contrasting tonal pattern.
The pattern is the latest example of Canterbury’s ‘evade’ technology – the irregular pattern is designed to draw a tackler’s eyes to the top of the chest, away from the hip area, so that the player can more easily evade tackles.
Inside the jersey, the insignia of all the clubs and schools from the Leinster province, which is designed to emphasis the province’s motto of ‘from the ground up’.
Leinster will wear their new jersey for their opening home fixture of the Guinness Pro14 season against the Cardiff Blues on 8 September.
