Daniel Jerome Cipriani is one of the most talented but also most controversial English rugby union footballers and it was on this day in rugby history in 1987 that the fly-half was born.
Cipriani was spotted as a rugby talent and put on track for a professional career while he was still in prep school at Wimbledon College Prep school, Donhead. The move was the first steps to being named the England Under-16 captain and being selected as the fly-half for the U-19 side at the U-19 World Cup although he missed out on the action due to an injury.
After just missing out on the England 2007 Rugby World Cup squad, Cipriani was called to the 2008 Six Nations squad before his troubles off the field began. Cipriani was scheduled to make his full debut for England but a late night partying at a London night club was caught on film and he was axed from the squad for ‘inappropriate behavior.’
The event was the first of many incidents revolving around Cirpiani that have played out in the media.
In October of 2008 he had a bust up with club and international team-mate Josh Lewsey. And is regular tabloid fodder due to his many high profile relationships over the years with Cheeky Girl Monica Irimia, occasional TV presenter Kelly Brook, and Australian model Lara Bingle.
