In their first effort with BLK, Ospreys have put a modern twist on their traditional black-and-white home look and added more flair with the alternate look for the 2014/15 Pro12 campaign. Ospreys skipper Alun Wyn Jones and Dan Biggar modeled the home for fans at Liberty Stadium last week.
The black-and-white jersey fades to grey as it works toward the waistline. This look was part of the jersey between 2005 and 2008 that included their famous win over Australia in 2006.
The jersey includes a white constructed collar with black insert at the front and includes a black panel on the right side of jersey and white on the left side arching from the collar to the armpit. The panel does a good job of framing the solid color of the jersey body in contrast to the black sleeves with white pinstripes. The sleeves have a thin white cuff.
“BLK are a leading player in southern hemisphere rugby who are starting to make huge inroads into the European game,” Yarnie Guthrie, Ospreys Commercial Manager said at the unveiling. “This is the first time that we have worked together on an Ospreys jersey and everybody is delighted with the result. Our shirt is already a sales phenomenon and with the input of BLK and their fresh ideas we can build on what is already an incredible platform.”
BT Sport is the primary jersey sponsor on the home jersey while OSTCFX.com is the primary sponsor on the alternate jersey. Each brand has a sponsor placement on the right chest on the other jersey.
The alternate jersey shares the same template as the home but that is about the extent of the similarities. The body of the jersey is white with diagonal lines of grey hachure marks. The left sleeve is sky blue with light yellow pinstripes while the right sleeve is light yellow with sky blue pinstripes.
The collar is sky blue and white with light yellow border and white insert. The shoulder panels are black.
BLK is working to expand the selection of Ospreys gear available to fans. The demand for Ospreys gear is huge. An independent study in 2013 by Running Rugby showed the Welsh club sales double those of their 3 Welsh rivals combined.
Ospreys rugby gear is scheduled to be received at WorldRugbyShop.com this week.
