PRO Rugby is preparing for their inaugural season which kicks off on April 17 and today announced World Rugby Shop as the official match and training ball partner.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for rugby fans and players in the US,” World Rugby Shop Head of Rugby Brad Kilpatrick said. “Professional rugby has been a dream for a long time and thanks to PRO Rugby that dream is now becoming a reality. We couldn’t be more pleased to be involved and help grow the sport we all love as we enter a new era for Rugby in the US.”
Gilbert, who is the official ball of the domestic leagues of England and France, the Aviva Premiership and Top 14, respectively, as well as the official ball of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, will make the balls for the new league. The balls will be white with black and red detailing.
Professional Rugby Organization (PRO) Rugby is sanctioned by both USA Rugby and World Rugby. The 5-team rugby union league’s goal is to continue to grow the game in the U.S. and provide additional high-level training and game opportunities for players.
“We are excited to partner with World Rugby Shop and to gain access to their years of experience in the rugby retail market,” PRO Rugby’s CEO Doug Schoninger added. “We are very fortunate to have found a partner that shares our common vision of growing rugby in the USA without sacrificing the values and ethos that are so important to the game.”
