Australian Super Rugby franchise Queensland Reds have revealed their jerseys for the 2017 season, once again produced by their Gold Coast neighbors, BLK Sport.
The new home shirt is a very classic take on the original Queensland Reds jersey recipe, with a plain scarlet base jersey accented by the traditional midnight blue secondary colour on the sleeve cuffs, under arms and the collar. The away shirt breaks from tradition by being primarily black, with little to no extra ornamentation or contrast on the design.
Both home and away shirts do have one added design flourish to add interest – if you look closely at the bottom third of both jerseys, you’ll notice a very subtle, but large tonal depiction of the Reds’ koala mascot running from left to right.
The other jersey revealed by the Reds is a bespoke design that they will wear when they take on teams from Australia, South Africa and New Zealand team, as well as RC Toulon from France and Japan’s Wild Knights in the Brisbane Global Tens.
The Tens jersey is a lot more out of the ordinary, with a white jersey accented with an interested tonal red geometric pattern around the sleeves, shoulders and on the bottom half of the design.
The Reds will wear their Tens jersey for the Brisbane Global Tens on 11 February, while they will wear their home and away shirts throughout the 2017 Super Rugby season.
