Rugby is as much about giving back to the community as winning or losing and last weekend teams were helping raise funds and awareness for Sport Relief by wearing custom socks. Leicester Tigers, Sale Sharks, and Worcester Warriors took the field wearing custom socks while other clubs sported Sport Relief t-shirts during warm-ups.
The socks brought some good luck and a good result for Leicester and Sale while Worcester had their hearts broken by a late try. The classic red lace up printed rugby sock stood out on the field.
Sale Sharks showed well in their big 19-6 win over then Aviva Premiership leaders Northampton Saints at AJ Bell Stadium. The first half was the difference as Mark Cueto, Marc Jones and Tom Brady all touched down for tries for the win.
Manu Tuilagi made a great return to the Tiger’s starting XI by scoring the opening try in the sides 45-15 bonus point win over Exeter Chiefs.
Worcester sits at the bottom of the table and have not won since March of last year. They looked poised to end that streak of futility until Jake Cooper-Woolley pushed in a late try to give London Wasps a 13-11 win at Sixways.
