South African Super Rugby team the Vodacom Bulls have revealed the jerseys they will wear for the upcoming 2017 season, once again designed by German sportswear giant, Puma.

In recent years, the Bulls jerseys have always been some of the most striking, unconventional designs in Super Rugby, with bold graphics and colours at the fore. However, this year they have opted for a much more retro, classic approach.

Under the banner of ‘Forever Blue’ this year’s home and alternate shirts are both blue – the home a traditional sky blue, while the away is the dark blue usually reserved for the team’s home shorts.

There are no graphics, no bold or overbearing graphics or motifs otherwise, just a classic design with subtle accents, with the most striking part of the design being the classic Puma-owned 7cm Performance Stripe across the shoulders on both home and away shirt.

Also adding to the retro vibe is a new collar design, which mixes the granddad and stub styles for a very classic look, which suits the stated aim of paying tribute to the long history of Northern Transvaal rugby.

The Bulls players – including recently retired Springbok captain Adrain Strauss, and current internationals Jesse Kriel, Lood de Jager and Jan Serfontein – will wear their new jerseys for the opening game of the Super Rugby season, against the Stormers on 25 February 2017.
